Oak Bay from Cattle Point

"Oak Bay" oil on stretched canvas 11 x 14

Today we were at Cattle Point on Vancouver Island, Canada - about sixteen of us artists. I was facing Oak Bay. That tall building in the centre is where Rudyard Kipling once stayed at the Old Charming Inn, previously known as the Oak Bay Hotel, the hotel long since demolished but immortalised in a Kipling poem!
On the right is a sun-bleached rocky outcrop smoothed by glacial action some fifteen-thousand years ago, and the restless sea once carved the foreground rocks on the left foreground. Seagulls rest on a tiny rock mid-picture.
The mile-high Olympics of the good ol' US-of-A frame my picture. We are on the watery border between the USA and Canada here. Click the image for a bigger view of my painting but please push your back button to return here. Care to leave a message?
