Show time - how I approach my plein air work

I am a creature of basic moves. For instance the Alfrescoes Painters of Victoria went painting pumpkins at Michell's Farm this week.

Even before I climbed in the car I used my nouse to compose a prelim sketch of what the scene could look like:

But when I got there I neglected the tractor as too much info - instead I used my fav compositional device = a strong vertical (tree); a definite horizontal (horizon line); an incline (slope of the background) and a circle (pumpkin).

I look for this composition every time I paint.  If I don't find it, I'll use another compositional device - hey there are many!
