South Rim - Grand Canyon 16.5 x 30 inches oil on stretched canvas (The best). CLICK TO ENLARGE
Famous US artist Thomas Moran painted the Grand Canyon from this point which is where we also stood, many years later. I enjoyed painting the rocky cliff but also the far distant mountains.
Many Canadians who visit the canyon also stand at the same spot, enjoying the view, and this 50cm by 70cm painting, on stretched canvas, is full of cheerful russet hues, different from our greens and blues.
Available direct from me. Send email.

This face actually exists in Stadacona Avenue in Victoria BC - yes I added details for my painting but I didn't mess with the tree itself. Go look.

"Alison" 6x6 oil on canvas board
"Alison"
By Ron Wilson with a salute to the style of Milt Kobayashi.
It was from the inspiration of artists such as Velasquez, Whistler, Chase, Sargent
and others that Milt found his particular use of color,
pattern, and his compositional style. My mentors too.

2 in a boat 2021 oil on 6x12 canvas board
2 in a boat 2021
This is one of my cultural scenes - two in a boat - think of the symbolism,
of black and white going somewhere.

This is my favourite place to paint here in Victoria BC. This is a plein air painting.
I learnt a lot about composition from the art educator Ian Roberts,
a Canadian painter working in the United States now. He has
books and videos on painting which are readily available.

Kettle small painting
The kettle - my friend Roger says these days condos and cabins are offering smaller walls on which to hang paintings, so a 'smallie' would be ideal for a boat or a small apartment, This original painting comes with a tiny wooden easel. Opening bid Canadian dollars 40 There is a RESERVE price.

"Dallas Road Cliff, Rail Fence" oil on stretched canvas 16" x 20"
Oil sketch above, actual photo below.
This scene is most visited by local Victorians in BC. A lot of dog owners let their pets run hassle-free, and artists love it for the many scenes to paint in the area.
My family says my painting isn't finished but I know it is because when artists have realized their intentions - it's DONE!

"House in the Fraser Valley" postcard size, gouache
"House in the Fraser Valley"
Gouache is like watercolour but has more body, giving a nice flat opaque appearance. I am doing well with it now after a few first tentative attempts.
And this image comes from my own visit to this exciting part of British Columbia. I hope you enjoy the vision before you.

"BMW 3-Wheeler" postcard size
"Alongside" oil 24 x 30
Neighbours at anchor in the Pacific Northwest. The weather is good, the winds are calm for good sailing. We are out of the shallows and we are safely in the bay, flags flying.

"Blue VW" gouache
Experimenting with my brand-new gouache paint I did this Blue Volksie today - I like the matt finish of this paint, it looks as though it was done with chalk - such is the opacity of the paint.
I like it. Postcard size.

"Blue Jib"
"Blue Jib"
Carol Marine uses oils and gouache. This latter medium sounds great so I bought myself a set from Amazon (very quick delivery) and set about using it on plain MDF, no canvas or gesso. I was surprised how quickly it dried into a nice mat finish. Click to enlarge the image.
