Finlayson Arm from St.Stephens

"Finlayson Arm from St.Stephens"

On Friday morning July 25, 2008 our Plein Air Group visited St.Stephens just outside Victoria on Vancouver Island BC. We had a great time, everyone turned in some excellent work, I was delighted to see the quality of the other artists' work Yippeee...

For my part, I was drawn by the zig-zag of the field and the water, a wonderful device to show aerial perspective.

As usual the image is clickable - also click COMMENTS to send me a critique!

I really like the soft nature of this painting, the colors give it a modern fresh look, the mood is inviting and the zig zag brings it alive. I know this area a little, can you tell me where exactly St. Stephens is and what direction this painting is facing.

Delia Sansom provides the reply: "St Stephen's Church is located at the western end of Mount Newton Cross Road. From the churchyard, facing south and west, the view takes in Woodwyn Farm and Finlayson Arm." Thanks Delia.
