"Oak Bay Citizens Monument" oil 8 x 10

My approach is a bit like Harley Brown. A quick oil sketch,  painted in situ in about an hour. This monument, situated at Cattle Point in Oak Bay in Victoria BC, is dedicated to the memory of Oak Bay citizens who gave their lives during WW2 - 1939 to 1945. Lovingly surrounded by red tulips, yellow daffodils and purple camas, the monument nestles in a quiet bend in the road, facing the sea. Nearby, a tall Canadian flag was chattering in the wind this morning, saying more than my words can say.
